Native American-style Beadwork Scissor Case
Native American-style Beadwork Scissor Case
£125.00
A buckskin beadwork scissor case made for sale for the Alaska State Museum shop in the mid to late 20th century. On the price tag in handwritten ink, it says “beaded scissor case 125.00.” The craftspersons name “Lilian Davilde Fairbanks” is written in a neat hand on reverse. The case is delicately embroidered with beads on the front in the shape of a red flower, and has a long beaded strap. It was likely commissioned locally by the Alaska State Museum shop to reflect Native American beadwork on exhibition in the museum. Included is a pair of delicate gold heron-shaped scissors, although we do not know if they were original to the case. A wonderful item detailing a story of souvenir and tourist history. 11 x 5.5 x 0.5.
