Trixie Belden paper doll and costumes [book tie-in]
From jogging set to city suits and plenty of country dresses with vests, an accurate range of late 1970’s middle American clothing for girl detective Trixie to don as she solves her latest mystery. The Trixie Belden mystery book series ran from 1948-86, the first author was Julie Campbell, who also wrote the Cherry Ames nurse series and the Ginny Gordon series. As a girl detective Trixie Belden was a refreshing advancement from a rather buttoned-up church-going perfect Nancy Drew. Set in the Hudson Valley, Trixie was an energetic and curious girl known to jump to conclusions and always get into tight jams. She was called a tom boy, that blanket description label that was and is broadly used to suggest a girl who doesn’t conform to gender expectations of her era. She was sassy and smart, in one story sucking snake venom out of her little brother’s toe to save his life. Our favorite girl detective!
