Join us in welcoming Sarah Henstra, author of The Red Word, to The Second Shelf. Sarah will perform a reading from her book before joining The Second Shelf's Managing Editor Lucy Scholes in a discussion about the novel. This will be followed by a short audience Q&A. Drawing on Greek mythology to comment on contemporary rape culture, The Red Word is a gripping story of frat parties and radical feminism on an unnamed Ivy League American university campus in the 1990s.
Sarah Henstra is Associate Professor of English Literature at Ryerson University. She is the author of Mad Miss Mimic, a historical tale for young adults, and We Contain Multitudes. The Red Word is her first work of adult fiction and won the 2019 Governor General's Literary Award. Sarah lives in Toronto, Canada. Tickets here.
