Unused hair nets in beautiful original packaging, various materials, collection of 11 from 1930s-1950s. In the early 20th century women with the new bobbed hairstyles were required by law to wear hair nets at work involving food. The delicate weaving was often done by women and children in Alsace, Bohemia and China, until Nylon became the standard. Femina, Venida and Elvetta brand nets are human hair, the rest are nylon. A variety of colours, including Gray, Blonde, a range of Browns and Black. Styles include Bobbed, French, Cap, and Invisible. Several packages have pen prices to front, Royalty extra-fine has loss to one corner, Jac-o-net package states three hair nets but only one present. This is an excellent collection in very good condition with strong connections to fashion, technology, and women’s labour history. 1930s-1960s
