A Collection of 70 Belt Buckles. c. 1980’s.
A collection of belt buckles for women’s clothing, in varying colours and designs, shrink sealed on to black card pages, clearly for a samples book or catalogue. In brass, nickel, stainless steel and “antique” finishes, some with painted coloured sections, some with flamboyant embossed designs and details; chains, knots, texture details, zodiac symbols etc. some with pseudo-tribal or “native” decoration, some clearly designed for a fashion industry that was not valuing either restraint or understatement at the time. One design is missing, having been removed from the bottom of a sheet, but as a pretty extensive record of trade samples and design varieties, this is an informative little group. Fun, rather unique, and with a definite flair for the dramatic.
