Uncanny Tales, including stories by Mrs. Hugh Fraser and Von Degen
Uncanny Tales is the first printing of this anthology of American writer F. Marion Crawford’s supernatural horror tales collected alongside those of his two sisters.
Mrs. Hugh Fraser’s (Mary Crawford Fraser) A Were-Wolf of the Campagna, first published in 1912 is included, as is A Mystery of the Campagna by Von Degen (Anne Crawford, later Countess von Rabe) which was originally published in 1891.
The family was raised in part in Italy, where both stories are set. Fraser wrote memoirs of her travel as a diplomat’s wife as well as novels and occult novels after her husband’s death in 1894.
