Girls and Boys No 2 is a scarce, very early work produced in Seattle by influential cartoonist Barry. Barry ushered in a new style of cartooning by presenting us with what she describes as gnarly and rough drawings. Her girls and boys reflect the real-life cruelties of relationships, mined for humour and recognition.

Barry began her solo career drawing mini-comics in Seattle and Xeroxing them to sell for 25 or 50 cents. She now has published over 15 books and her work is instantly recognisable worldwide. In 2019 Barry received a MacArthur Fellowship, more commonly known as the ‘Genius Grant.’
