A one-act play written for the Orange Tree Theatre, Weldon’s first of many collaborations with them, later adapted into a novel of the same name. Focusing on family dynamics, and especially the mother-daughter relationship, Words of Advice humorously critiques the role of men and women in marriages. As one of the characters says, “I am a jealous, unreasonable, inefficient, extravagant, frigid, slut, but you married me.”
