Graphic Guides to Gender Box
A joyful collection of guides and zines exploring gender by non-binary and trans writers and artists.
Rowan Frewin’s A Potted Trans History explores the often overlooked history of transgender folks, spanning from classical antiquity to the Stonewall riots. Each page features illustrations and information about key figures/moments in trans history. The zine is a 12 page (plus cover) 2 colour riso printed zine printed on 100% recycled paper.
And their zine “People Who Menstruate”, an 8-page comic zine about why gender neutral language is important while talking about menstruation. Made in response to a certain author’s transphobic stance as revealed on twitter. The Rizo printed zine folds open to reveal an A3 poster on the reverse with information of transgender and menstrual health resources.
And in Gender: A Graphic Guide by Meg-John Barker and Jules Scheele travel through our shifting understandings of gender across time and space – from ideas about masculinity and femininity, to non-binary and trans genders, to intersecting experiences of gender, race, sexuality, class, disability, and more.
