April Ashley's Odyssey by Duncan Fallowell & April Ashley

April Ashley's Odyssey by Duncan Fallowell & April Ashley

£50.00

April Ashley was a fashion model, actress, and vivacious member of London’s nightlife in the early 60s. She was one of Britain’s first people to have gender reassignment surgery at the age of 25 in Morocco. Print media outed her in 1961. After the passage of the Gender Recognition Act in 2004 her gender was finally recognised officially and her sex was changed on her birth certificate to female.

This biography was written with Duncan Fallowell. She later published her autobiography and got into some hot water as she had heavily borrowed from the Fallowell, and copies were supposedly pulped.

A significant story about a courageous woman!

London: Arena, 1983. 19.5 x 12.5 x 2. 287 pages. Signed reissue paperback. In very good condition.
