Vogue In China’s centerpiece is a 26-page photographic editorial by creative director Grace Coddington featuring a curated selection of clothes from China’s No. 1 Department Stores interspearsed with Western brands like Chloé and Saint Laurent. Per Coddington’s memoir “British Vogue traveled to China for what was to be the first fashion trip to that country undertaken by a Western glossy magazine”, along with cover model Esmé Marshall. China was open and sending invitations for fashion to promote it. Revlon released a line of China- themed cosmetics also featured in the editorial. Cultural appropriations to be expected. Locations include Peking’s Tien An Men, Tai Chi at Zheng y ilu, Democracy Wall, the Sacred way to Ming Tombs, Paihai Park, and the Forbidden City, Datong, and Tiayun.
